 Press Release:
Herald Boys Reflect on “20 years of The Herald”
Former workers of The Herald newspaper, otherwise called the “Herald Boys & Girls” are planning on an event to observe 20 years of the newspaper that marked the media landscape in Cameroon but became the first frontline newspaper to disappear from the newsstands in 2009.
The Herald was first published in 1992 and some of the prominent journalists in various public, private, local and international media organizations are Herald Boys & Girls. About a dozen newspapers in the country are the creation of Herald Boys.
The anniversary event will be a forum to reflect on The Herald’s years of “journalism power”, its reputation as a hands-on “training centre”, its years of decline, its sudden demise and lessons for our media environment.
Besides Herald Boys & Girls, the event will welcome the participation of Herald readers, journalists and managers of other media organizations, partners of the media, and academic and public personalities. The founder of The Herald will be invited to the event.
Spokespersons for the organizing committee are:
Franklin Sone Bayen (7789-7167 / 3312- 9197; email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) and
