Manu Dibango (Pappy Grove)
Pappy Grove
Giant of African music
King of Jazz
The great saxophonist
Voice of the saxophone
Emmanuel N'Djoke Dibango
I call you father of music
I hear the cry of jazz
Crying to the lost of its own
A father, brother, friend, giant
One who's hand and voice was power
One who's intellect was truth
Truth to his call
Pappy groove
Voice of the saxophone
You live in every jazz note played
And a saxophone is nothing without you
You give life to music
Like a mixologist you cut across genres
brewing beauty
A note soothing to babies
You're gone but not done
Pappy Grove
Manu Dibango
As Jazz live you live
You live each time we listen and dance
To ma ma se, ma ma sa, ma makoussa
Giant of African music
I hear the cry of jazz
Crying to the lost of its own
A father, brother, friend, giant
One who's hand and voice was power
One who's intellect was truth
Truth to his call
Pappy groove
Voice of the saxophone
You live in every jazz note played
And a saxophone is nothing without you
You give life to music
Like a mixologist you cut across genres
brewing beauty
A note soothing to babies
You're gone but not done
Pappy Grove
Manu Dibango
As Jazz live you live
You live each time we listen and dance
To ma ma se, ma ma sa, ma makoussa
Giant of African music
I venerate you, for in us you live
Rest well Pappy Grove
