Its not so easy to quickly forget the recent visit of John Dumelo. It was simply memorable. Over two months after, the Ghanaian movie superstar is still the talk of the country, not for anything negative, but for taking his hosts unaware with his extraordinarily out-going attitude. Dumelo is a perfect gentleman who has dymistified the notion that megastars are arrogant, said Janine, a Limbe resident and fan of the Ghallywood actor. "He gave us a run for our time when he visited Limbe and for once, we met an artist who was so patient with the crowds around him," Janine continued.
"J-Melo inspired me a great deal and I must say I'd love to have him visit Cameroon again and again," another Limbe fan of the talented actor told us. Hendrick went on: "When you have iconic figures like Dumelo who humble themselves and relates with everyone, one is bound to wish to be like them someday."
JdumeloJanine and Hendrick were referring to the Ghanaian actor's down-to-earth attitude displayed throughout his stay in Cameroon. John Dumelo had come to the country on the invitation of Gold Age Productions to star in one of their movies, My Gallery. Away from doing the job, Dumelo found time to do the things Cameroonians do and in a typical Cameroonian fashion. And just like the proverbial visitor to Egypt, he did what Egyptians do on sticks of 'soya' (barbequed beef twined on sticks), for instance.  This caught the attention of his hosts. "I just enjoyed the sight of the superstar gulping the 'soya' and feeling at home in Cameroon," one of them revealed. "He was just so simple'" he indicated further.
At Down Beach, the Ghanaian movie guest related so warmly with fish-eating customers and permitted snapshots with him. "Bonjour, bonjour," he would greet everyone who came to him. He would smile, accept hugs and hand-shakes. He was a Cameroonian at this time and no one could dispute this.
TIPTOPSTARS JdumeloPerhaps, the highlight of Dumelo's Cameroon visit largesse was  his financial and material donation to a primary (elementary) school in Limbe, a move that attracted a lot of emotions. "It was such a wonderful move from a respectable  African and we  really hope other colleagues of his will emulate Dumelo's example," Janine later commented.
It was the first time John Dumelo was coming to Cameroon. Prior to his visit, Dumelo's compatriot, Joseph Van Vicker was in Cameroon to shoot Decoded, another Gold Age production directed by Akim Macauley and Enah Johnscott.
