ZigggggRenowned Cameroonian film maker Zigoto Tchaya Tchameni is back home after an eight-week stay in Europe from his last visit to Cameroon. Zigoto, the director of Traffic d’Enfants, a film that made news recently at the African Film Festival Ecrans Noirs has something up his sleeves again. This time, he is on with Chasta Chaltra (Hasty Climber) whose production has already begun in the UK, specifically in East Ham, London. “I’ve shot some scenes in the UK, featuring actors from Nigeria, Britain, Pakistan, India, Turkey, France andChecq Republic. Shooting of scenes in Cameroon begins this Tuesday 23 June 2009 in Yaounde and will go on for five days. “We’ll be working with up-to-date equipment, so be rest assured of good quality,” Zigoto told us. He went further: “We’ll be working with a eight-man Cameroonian cast and a huge crowd for extras.” The 90-minute long film will be shot on locations at the Monté Juvence, Polythenique, Damass and Febé Village neighbourhoods. The first segment of post-production has begun in Cameroon while mixing will be done in the UK.

Chasta Chatra is a demonstration of the aftermath of the current global economic stress, specifically the credit crunch in the United Kingdom and a similar economic down turn in Cameroon. It will be directed by Zigoto himself, featuring Buminang Elvis, Fokala Victorine (who emerged third in the last “Stars de Demain” song competition), Tume Balon Fadiyi, Taku Sophie and Fri Louisa. By December 2010, Zigoto confirmed, the film will be released.

It should be noted that Zigoto recently won an Indian Film Academy award in Mombai, for his role in My Love (best actor) by Venkat Prasad (Indian). He is a laureate of two other awards (best film in 2004 and best screenplay in 2006
